Fit 4 Life Courses 2018

We have comissioned Home Start Knowlsey to run a Fit4Life course for Northwood Together families. The course covers:

Identifying stress and coping strategies: providing parents with the ability to identify stress as a part of life and giving them coping strategies to help them deal with stress.

Active Lifestyles: Every family is offered places on an activity day which helps participants understand the benefits of light daily exercise. It also gives them an opportunity to experience new activities they might not have tried before.

Healthy Eating and Growing Your Own: Practical sessions which teach healthy cooking skills and give basic nutritional advice, and simple gardening techniques.

Using Local Services: Parents are supported to access local services such as GP and dental services, register at Children’s Centres and seek smoking cessation services.

Budgeting: Learning strategies to manage their money more effectively, prioritise budgets and optimise their finances.

Community Hub

You said, "There's no where nice to go as a family in Northwood where you can meet others and socialise."

We listened and have been researching how we could improve the Northwood assets and make them more inviting. We have commissioned some consultants to produce feasibility reports that would analyse the physical assets we have and what we might do to improve them.
A major issue is how the Community Centre could be better used and become a hub of the community. One option we are considering is employing a centre manager to promote the centre as a resource for clubs and functions making it self sustaining as a business venture.

Benefits and Debt Advice Service - TASC

You said, "We need more accessible help with benefits and advice."

Due to the success of the work carried out by TASC we have commissioned the project for another year.
